70's themed party raises money for breast cancer
Jun 8, 2011
More than $4,000 was raised by the Edinburgh Solicitors Property Center for Breast Cancer Care, according to the Edinburgh Evenings News.
The fundraiser was a 70's-themed birthday party, as well as celebrations that included cupcakes and other treats and beverages.
"Despite the recession, it has been great to see so many of our solicitors and customers raise money for Breast Cancer Care. We would like to thank everyone for their support and contributions to some very successful evenings. We are looking forward to more in the coming year," said Malcolm Cannon, the chief executive of the ESPC.
Cannon himself dressed up as Elvis to help bolster the fundraiser.
Breast cancer survivors as well as friends and family members of survivors across the U.S. and U.K. are organizing events in order to raise awareness for breast cancer and collect donations that often go towards research or educational programs.
In developed countries like America and the U.K., the incidence of breast cancer is about one in eight women, according to the American Cancer Society.
