Actress Judy Reyes will join breast cancer advocates for the 3rd annual Bowling for Breastcancer.org to raise money for the site and help find a cure for breast cancer in New York City on February 15.
The event will help launch a Spanish translation to not only the Breastcancer.org site but various other sites that aim to raise breast cancer awareness
"I'm thrilled to join Breastcancer.org for this annual event," said Reyes, who is most likely known for her role on Scrubs. "As the national spokesperson for Breastcancer.org and the daughter of a breast cancer survivor, I recognize the importance of accessible, easy-to-understand medical information in Spanish. It's vital we support Breastcancer.org and expand the Spanish translation site for the Latina woman and her community."
According to the American Cancer Society, one in eight women in the U.S. will be diagnosed with breast cancer at some point during their lifetime. It is recommended that once a woman turns 40, she schedules annual mammograms to ensure that she does not have the disease.
