Appel Heating and Air Conditioning , which is based out of Indianapolis, recently announced that they will be painting their vans pink in order to promote breast cancer awareness
around the area.
The company will also offer some services at a discount and donate portions of the profits to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. This promotion will run until January 13, 2012.
"Realizing that a large percentage of our customer base is female, we thought supporting the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation would be a great way to go," said Appel president, Scott Appel. "Many people have a need for heating services during the winter months anyway, so what better way to donate to a great cause during the holidays?"
According to the American Cancer Society, one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer at some point during her lifetime. Not only is it the second most common form of cancer among women behind skin cancer, but it is the second leading cause of cancer-related death among women, following only lung cancer.
