Laurieann Callahan has been running various events to promote breast cancer awareness
and to raise money to fight against the disease. Her newest idea was to host a bachelor auction for the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer, according to the Canon-McMillan Patch.
Callahan, who recently conducted a pub crawl to raise money for the disease, decided she would attempt to find men for women to either go on a date with or ask them to wash cars or do other household chores, according to the news source.
Her only hang up was that she was nervous to ask guys to participate, but to her surprise she had a good number of volunteers. The event will take place this weekend, when 15 bachelors will be auctioned off for a good cause, the media outlet reports.
According to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, it is recommended that once a woman turns 40 she schedules annual mammograms. If a woman has an extensive family history of breast cancer, they may want to start planning these appointments earlier to ensure that the disease is caught during its earlier stages.
