About 20 brave men volunteered to wear bras at a public fundraiser called Bras for a Cause, in order to show their support for the fight against breast cancer, according to a recent report from Livingston Daily.
The fundraiser was held at the Genoa Township Crystal Gardens ballroom and all of the proceeds were donated to the American Cancer Society.
The master of ceremonies was the State Senator Joe Hune who commended the men who volunteered.
"It takes a lot of courage to get up and do this," said Hune to the attendants of the fundraiser.
Some of the men who volunteered said that they were at first hesitant but were ultimately convinced due to the nature of the fundraiser.
"I'm all for anyone who does anything to raise money for a good cause. I was on the fence about participating in the past, but this year I decided to give it a shot," said Jordan Genso, a real estate agent, who participated in the event for the first time.
While men are also susceptible to developing breast cancer, the rates are much higher for women. All women over the age of 40 should receive yearly mammograms to detect breast cancer as early as possible.
