For those who have a hard time believing there is life after beating a serious disease, let Christina Applegate serve as an example.
According to the Daily Mail
, the 38-year-old breast cancer survivor, who is engaged to musician Martyn Lenoble, is now pregnant with her first child.
After the Samantha Who? starlet's rep confirmed the news to the media, the actress rushed to her Twitter account to express her gratitude to her well-wishers.
"Thank you all for your sweet words, now you understand my avocado situation! Xoxo," she wrote on the social networking site. The day before, Applegate tweeted that she couldn't stop craving the food.
Applegate was diagnosed with stage one breast cancer in 2008, and underwent a double mastectomy soon thereafter. She is now completely cancer free, and credits her fiancé for providing the strength she needed during the trying time.
"I'm very grateful to Martyn for coming along at a time that he did because he's been my rock through all of this. He gave me something to really want to live for and something to smile about," she told the news outlet.
According to the American Cancer Society, the overall five-year survival rate for those diagnosed with stage one breast cancer is more than 95 percent.
