In breast cancer survivor and support news, the Breast Cancer Aotearoa Coalition (BCAC) has produced a series of web videos. The videos, called "Kiwi Stories of Breast Cancer," show 15 men and women telling their individual stories from diagnosis to recovery.
According to the BCAC the goal of the videos is to help people diagnosed with breast cancer face the illness with hope and courage and let them know they are not alone.
The video offers a wide variety of ethnicities, genders and people with different types of breast cancer. The goal of the BCAC is to reach as big a range of New Zealanders affected by breast cancer as possible.
"By presenting a wide range of breast cancer experiences we hope to provide information and support to newly diagnosed women and their families no matter what they're facing," said Dr. Walsh, the BCAC Deputy Chair, in a statement from the organization.
The videos all focus on certain aspects of the breast cancer process including diagnosis, surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy and breast reconstruction, according to the BCAC. Videos also feature family members and medical professionals adding additional commentary.
