Breast cancer survivor honored after raising money for charity

Marilyn Yates was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2004, and has since beat the disease, but has continued working hard on behalf of others diagnosed with the illness, reports.

Yates was recently honored by Breakthrough Breast Cancer for raising over £1,000 for the charity. She was one of many who attended the unveiling of a new Challengers Wall at the Institute for Cancer Research in London, England, which lists the names of individuals who have raised four-figure sums.

"Doing the £1,000 Challenge meant a lot to me and I was so pleased to be able to support a charity which does groundbreaking research to help future generations," she told the news source.

Yates has also been active in hosting breast cancer fundraisers at her home and has participated in charity walks to raise awareness about the illness.

Breakthrough Breast Cancer is the United Kingdom's leading breast cancer charity, whose mission is to help women beat the disease by expanding access to information, education and treatment.ADNFCR-2795-ID-19924115-ADNFCR
