A breast cancer diagnosis can be filled with an array of negative emotions. However, it looks like a bunch of women who beat the disease are beaming with positivity.
According to The Huntsville Times, a number of breast cancer survivors made an appearance at the Hope in Bloom event at the Huntsville Botanical Garden in honor of National Cancer Survivor's Day, which took place this past Sunday.
Juanita Sales-Lee, who credits her diagnosis with giving her a new lease on life, was one of the attendees. "I view life and living differently now," she told the news source.
The event, which honors cancer survivors while giving them hope and encouragement for the future, also featured a beautiful butterfly release. Around 125 people received the gorgeous insects and let them go in the sprawling garden.
Sales-Lee, who came out of a diagnosis healthy and happy, had further advice for current breast cancer patients. "Keep looking up and keep pressing on," she told the news outlet.
National Cancer Survivors Day, which is now in its 23rd year, is held annually on the first Sunday in June.
