Breast cancer often strips a woman down emotionally, so it's no wonder that a bunch of North Carolina-area survivors are taking this idea and running with it.
According to WECT News
, the Ta Ta Sisterhood of Cape Fear, a group of women who battled the disease, are now posing for a nude calendar. The proceeds from the fundraiser will go on to benefit those in the area who are still in the midst of their fight.
Lauren Levian, one of the daring survivors taking part in this endeavor, reminds people that although the women will look beautiful, their battle scars will be apparent.
"You will see fake boobies on this calendar," she told the news outlet. "But they're all fake with big seams across them!"
Offering more serious input to the matter, photographer Allison Breiner, who shot the calendar, admitted the experience was an uplifting one.
"When the women got out there in these natural surroundings and took their clothes off, it was transforming, it was amazing to see what that did to them," she told the news outlet.
According to HealthDay.com, by 2016 there will be over one million breast cancer survivors living in the United States.
