the best way he knows how - cycling.According to the Reflector-Chronicle
, Richard Stephens, a retired high school administrator, is planning on biking over 1,000 miles to raise money for the Susan G. Komen Foundation. The trip will take him from Wichita to Winnipeg, Manitoba.
"I, like almost everyone I know in my age range, have dealt with or will deal directly or indirectly with this terrible disease," Stephens told the news source.
The trip may be an extremely personal one for Stevens, as the 61 year old has admitted that several of his close friends have been diagnosed with breast cancer.
"Women, in my opinion, make up the mortar that holds the brick of society in place and in essence keep the walls from crumbling," Stephens told the news outlet.
Susan G. Komen for the Cure is an organization dedicated to funding breast cancer research. Since its inception in 1982, the non-profit has raised over $1.5 billion for the cause.
