Jul 23, 2011
The Bally Hotel in Pennsylvania and the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation are joining forces to present the first annual Cars For The Cure event on July 24, reports the Boyertown Area Times. Proceeds from the days festivities will be donated to the foundation.
The event, which will feature a car show and block party, will raise awareness and donations to support breast cancer breakthroughs. News of the festivities is welcomed by Bally-area car lovers, as they will have the chance to view some of the most stunning classic, antique and new cars. Guests are also encouraged to enter their cars into the show, where attendees will judge the vehicles, and top cars will receive trophies.
Other aspects of the event include a wing-eating contest, a bike decorating contest for children, a raffle of donated merchandise from local businesses, a bake sale and live music. Children may enjoy the dunk tank, where area teachers will sit, allowing students to playfully get revenge.
The Bally Hotel's restaurant will offer its regular menu with pink twists for the occasion.
According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, between 122.6 and 124.8 per 100,000 women developed breast cancer in Pennsylvania in 2007.
