It was recently announced that Coastal.com
, one of the largest online eyewear companies, will provide donations to four of the biggest breast cancer awareness
foundations and organizations to support their cause.
The company will donate a total of $35,000 to Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation (Canada), National Breast Cancer Foundation (U.S.), National Breast Cancer Foundation (Australia) and Cancer Research UK (United Kingdom). They have also been selling pink frames for the cause.
"With the help of our customers who supported efforts to raise awareness, we are stoked to make a sizeable donation to a cause which has touched so many of our lives," said Roger Hardy, founder and CEO of the website. "We hope that when people see others wearing their pink frames, they'll think about supporting the cause as well."
According to the American Cancer Society, one in eight women in the U.S. will be diagnosed with breast cancer at some point during their lifetime. It is not only the second most common form of cancer among women behind skin cancer, but it is the second leading cause of cancer-related death among women, following only lung cancer.
