Cybex International, a manufacturer of exercise equipment, has just announced their second annual Pink Ribbon
Run. The event will raise money for The Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
For each mile logged on their custom made pink treadmills during Breast Cancer Awareness Month (October), Cybex will donate ten cents. The first event logged more than 250,000 miles.
The custom treadmills will be sold to various health clubs, exercise facilities and YMCAs across the United States.
"As a company, we're deeply committed to raising funds to fight breast cancer, and awareness about the benefits of exercise as it relates to the disease," Joan Carter, Cybex Executive Director and Founder of the run, said in a release.
The company is hoping to raise even more money this year than they did previously.
According to the American Cancer Society (ACS), one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. Medical professionals recommend a balanced diet coupled with exercise and regular mammograms in order to prevent and detect the disease. As always, early detection ensures a better chance of survival.
