Deli raised $10,000 for breast cancer awareness

Kinder's Corp and BBQ Deli in Pleasant Hill, California, recently announced that they raised $10,000 during the month of October for breast cancer awareness and research. The deli donated $1.00 each time they sold a chicken sandwich during the month, and were able to give the $10,000 to Friends of Faith, which raises money for breast cancer patients who do not have insurance.

"This generous gift will fund critical services for poor and uninsured women who often have nowhere else to turn," said Friends of Faith treasurer Tammerlin Drummond. "We look forward to working with Kinder's in the future to support women battling this terrible disease."

According to the American Cancer Society, one in eight women in the U.S. will be diagnosed with breast cancer at some point during her lifetime. Not only is this disease the second most common form of cancer among women behind skin cancer, but it is also the second leading cause of cancer-related death among women, following only lung cancer.
