Dodgeball game to raise breast cancer awareness

Plenty of organizations and companies across the country are doing something to help raise money and breast cancer awareness during the month of October - even hosting a dodgeball tournament to fight for a cure, according to LA Weekly.

The first Ta-Ta Dodgeball game is hosted by the Eagle Rock Yacht Club and will take place this Sunday. At the end of the tournament, the event will have an auction, and everyone involved is invited to attend an after-party at a nearby bar, which will also go towards the donation.

The organization is looking to raise a total of $5,000 for the Keep a Breast Foundation, the media outlet reports.

According to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, it is recommended that once a woman turns 40 she should schedule annual mammograms. Family history can be influential when it comes to being diagnosed with the disease. If a woman has an extensive family history, she may want to start making these appointments earlier to ensure that if she does have it, she will catch it during its beginning stages.
