It was recently announced that the seventh annual EagleBank Foundation Fight Against Breast Cancer Golf Classic, which was held last October, raised more than $350,000. The event raises money to help local hospitals and organizations in Maryland that are focusing on breast cancer research.
"As a local community bank, this annual event brings us in contact with many others who share our commitment to the community and this cause--to fight the devastating effects that breast cancer has on all who are touched by it," said EagleBank's chairman and CEO Ronald D. Paul. "Working with employees, board members and their spouses, vendors and suppliers, the hospitals, and our most generous sponsors, donors and players, we successfully raised over $350,000."
Since this event was established in 2005, the Foundation has raised $1,200,000 for the fight against breast cancer.
According to the American Cancer Society, one in eight women in the U.S. will be diagnosed with breast cancer at some point during their lifetime. It is recommended that once a woman turns 40, she schedules annual mammograms to ensure that she does not have the disease.
