Elmira College hosts breast cancer fundraiser

The women's hockey team at Elmira College in Elmira, New York, will show their support for breast cancer patients and their families by holding a fundraiser during their game against Potsdam State, according to StarGazette.com.

Players from both teams will show sportsmanship and solidarity by taking to the ice with pink laces on their skates. They have dubbed the fundraiser, Pink in the Rink, and expect a great turnout from the Elmira community.

Along with pink laces, the hockey teams will set up a donation table to support breast cancer awareness. The proceeds from the event will go to local charities who will use those resources to get the word out and support breast cancer patients and families in the community.

The admission will be $5 for adults and $3 for students with all of the profits going to help those in their struggle against the deadly disease. The event will be held at the Murray Athletic Center in Pine Valley which is just a short ride away from campus.

According to BreastCancer.org, as of 2010 there are 2.5 million breast cancer survivors living in the United States.
