Free mammogram programs funded in 2012

NBCFThroughout October, health care workers and physicians have reminded patients that a mammogram can be the best way to catch breast cancer early and improve the chances of a complete cure. But what if you can't afford one? Many vunerable populations are underinsured and cannot afford to pay for this procedure (which costs $100 or more in most clinics and hospitals).

Since 2002, grants made possible by the "Click Here to Give" program and other efforts by The Breast Cancer Site have given women greater peace of mind by underwriting free mammogram programs throughout the United States.

In 2012, GreaterGood.org has donated $340,000 to National Breast Cancer Foundation to provide support for free mammogram programs. According to an October 18 report from NBCF Director of Programs Janelle Gottlieb, this money has been distributed to the following hospitals and clinics:
