May 25, 2011
Margaret M. Bores, a licensed physical therapy assistant and certified personal trainer, will be hosting a free workshop on fitness for breast cancer survivors in Garden City, New York, on July 11, according to a new report from GCNews.com.
Bores is also an exercise specialist as well as breast self-exam lecturer. She has taken part in multiple community events related to breast cancer. The workshop will be held at Adelphi University and focus on stretching and balance.
These exercises are important for men and women of all ages and stages in life. However, they are especially helpful for breast cancer patients who may experience side effects from medication.
The American Cancer Society recommends that all women over the age of 40 receive annual mammograms. Younger women should have clinical breast exams on a regular basis, as well as perform self breast exams regularly. Breast cancer affects one out of every eight women in the U.S. at some point in her lifetime.
