Giuliana Rancic optimistic after breast cancer surgery

Giuliana Rancic was diagnosed with breast cancer when she visited a doctor about her third round of in vitro fertilization. It has been a month since she underwent a double lumpectomy and she is optimistic, according to People Magazine.

Even though the 36-year-old E! News host was nervous about releasing the news of her breast cancer, she appreciates the support she has received, according to the media outlet.

"I know it sounds so cliche, but I think it helped me recover quicker, and it got me in better spirits," Rancic told the news source of the fan feedback. "The word I kept seeing over and over again was 'strong.' 'Be strong. You're strong.' That word has never meant so much to me as it has this past month."

According to the American Cancer Society, this disease is the second leading cause of cancer-related death among women, following only lung cancer. However, the death rate has been decreasing since 1990 due to advancements in research and breakthroughs in breast cancer news. There are currently 2.5 million breast cancer survivors in the U.S.
