Many organizations and groups around the world raise money for cancer research and victims and their families. In Pink Ribbon
activities news, a hair stylist is now offering a rather unique support service.
Houston hair stylist Judy Williams created a glam squad of professionals to give breast cancer survivors fashionable makeovers and photo shoots. According to CBS-affiliate KHOU 11 News, she was inspired after learning of one of her coworker's difficulties with everyday grooming due to her battle with breast cancer.
Fifty-five professionals answered Williams' call and agreed to give the makeovers and photo shoots for free. One of the contributing professionals, Makeba Collins, told the source, "When you're dealing with women, it's not a shallow thing with us to look great, to look fabulous. It really does help boost our ego and our self-esteem."
The American Cancer Society reports that more than 230,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer in the United States alone. Contributions like those of Judy Williams and her support crew of professional stylists help provide cancer victims with attention, care and support in their time of need.
