Ouidad, a hairstylist in New York City, was diagnosed with breast cancer eight years ago, and although she is now cancer free, she continues to work to find a cure for the disease.NY1
reports that along with her husband, Peter Wise, Ouidad has been donating money to various cancer causes over the years, and began her own program, Curls For A Cure.
Wise came up with the plan while his wife was going through treatment, and believed that it was a way to not only help her but help others as well.
"I felt, 'What can I do? She is experiencing it, but what can I do?' So I wanted to create Curls For A Cure, so that I can help fund the research to find a cure, before my daughter gets into her 40s, so that history doesn't repeat itself for her," he told the news source.
Curls For A Cure has raised more than $300,000 since it began four years ago, and the money benefits the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
The Breast Cancer Research Foundation provides funding for innovative research in order to find a cure for the disease.
