Sep 15, 2011
The department store Kohl's has recently announced its new program to fight against breast cancer. The program is an auction of 16 different artist-decorated ribbon sculptures, which will be available online.
"Kohl's is proud to support the fight against breast cancer and we're excited to help raise awareness for the cause with these inspirational art pieces," said Julie Gardner, the store's executive vice president. "Ribbons are synonymous with the cause and each beautiful ribbon sculpture provides a unique perspective on the personal stories of how breast cancer has affected many of us, our mothers, our sisters and our friends."
All of the proceeds with go to the Susan G. Komen organization, and will begin September 24 and continue to October 4.
According to the American Cancer Society, one in eight women in the U.S. will eventually be diagnosed with breast cancer at some point during her lifetime. This disease is the second leading cause of cancer-related death among women, following only lung cancer.
