Kylie Minogue, an international diva whose dance-pop tunes have garnered her numerous accolades and an impressive 60 million albums sold worldwide, remained quiet about her battle with breast cancer up until recently, News.com.au
Minogue was diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer in May 2005 and underwent chemotherapy treatment. She entered remission in February 2006, but has continued to take certain prescriptions as she approaches the five-year mark.
"I still take medication, and there are a lot of women who stop taking the medication because they just can't stand the side effects," she told the news provider.
She explained that the pills make her tired and also contribute to weight gain. But she remains positive about her outlook and is gearing up for the release of her latest album, Aphrodite, in July. She is also excited about the possibility of a new tour in 2011.
"Well, I'm here, and that's what I have to remember when I start to get down about it," she told the news source.
Recent studies have shown that breast cancer recovery may be improved when receiving positive support from close family and friends.
