Pop pixie Kylie Minogue was recently voted the most inspirational breast cancer star by more than 1,000 participants in an online poll in Britain, Reuters reports.
Minogue, 42, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005 and went through her battle in the public eye. She underwent surgery and her chemotherapy treatments resulted in hair loss, but the petite pop diva has bounced back and recently released her 11th studio album, Aphrodite.
"Kylie inspired many women to be more direct about their own fears, encouraging them to believe they would get through their ordeal," said Rhoda White, spokeswoman for Amoena, the company that sponsored the poll.
Minogue had remained quiet about her battle with the disease, but recently began to speak more openly about her personal experience with the illness. Other women who made the list include Christina Applegate, Maura Tierney and Cynthia Nixon.
According to the American Cancer Society and the International Agency for Research on Cancer, 1.3 million new cases of breast cancer are diagnosed around the world each year.
