University of Michigan programs to help cancer patients saw increasing demand over the last year.

Cancer patients and their families often face unexpected expenses or may have no health insurance programs or limited coverage. The U-M Cancer Center's programs, like Helping Hands, assisted more than 300 patients with financial aid for transportation, prosthetics and equipment, and medications in 2010.
