As this video discusses, more needs to be done to bring cancer survivors back into the mainstream of society:
A new report now shows that there are more than 13 million survivors in the United States, and that number is likely to be 18 million by 2022.
According to the report from the American Cancer Society and the U.S. National Cancer Institute, new treatments and better overall care have increased the rate of survival, but clinicians need to be sensitive to the longterm needs, both physical and psychological, of these patients. For breast cancer alone, currently 41 percent of those treated are seen as "survivors" by this study.
