Melissa Aztiazarain is a 35-year-old mother who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. She had minimal insurance and both she and her husband were out of work. A fortunate twist of fate allowed a Palm Beach Gardens restaurant in Florida to be able to support Melissa during her treatment and she is now on the road to recovery, according to Florida's WPBF
Aztiazarain was dining with a friend at the Palm Beach Gardens restaurant, Cabo Flats, when a manager overheard her discussing her financial troubles. Melissa, who never asked for help, will now benefit from a January fundraiser the restaurant will hold in her honor.
"I would love it if I walked into a restaurant and someone overheard me and were compelled to help me out," said Cabo Flats assistant manager Melissa Hartman. "Not that she asked or anything like that. We just want to do that for her," she told the news source.
Aztiazarain has already begun chemotherapy treatment for breast cancer in early December and will continue to fight the deadly disease.
According to the American Cancer Society, women should undergo regular mammograms beginning at age 40.
