Musical supports breast cancer research

A new musical in Arlington, Virgina, titled "Breast in Show," follows three women and one man through their breast cancer treatments into recovery of the disease. It received rave reviews as it mixed comedy with overwhelming sadness about the disease that affects millions of people across the globe. The musical contained approximately a dozen songs and rich dialogue, according to The Washington Times.

The news source reports that the show allows the audience to realize that "it's okay to laugh and enjoy the show, because we all really do understand how serious this is."

The producers of the show are hoping that they will be able to take the musical on the road to spread breast cancer awareness, the media outlet reports.

According to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, it is recommended that once a woman turns 40 she should schedule annual mammograms. Those who have extensive family history of the disease, which is known to be a risk factor, may want to make these appointments earlier to ensure that the disease is caught during its beginning stages.
