Onion company using pink packaging to raise money during breast cancer awareness month

For the third consecutive year, Peri & Sons Farms is using its name to raise breast cancer awareness for the National Breast Cancer Foundation during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The organic onion company based out of Yerington, Nevada, has created a limited edition pack of red, white, yellow and sweet onions that are adorned with pink labels, the color associated with breast cancer.

The large mesh bag with pink wrap-around labels will be offered during the month of October, the month dedicated to fighting and spreading awareness about the disease. The labels also have recipes on them from cookbook author Holly Clegg, to put the onions to good use.

Interested buyers who would prefer to purchase only one or two types of onions can do so by combining any variety in the either 2-pound, 3-pound or 5-pound bags. Those wanting to donate even more can do so by visiting the company website, PeriandSons.com, where supports can order a free pink wristband with the inspirational message reading, "Faith, hope, comma strength."

As breast cancer affects over 207,000 women and men annually, according to BreastCancer.org, raising money for a cure is necessary to up survival rates.
