When Breast Cancer Awareness Month arrives in October, members of the Flagler County community in Florida will doing their part to help fight the disease by participating in the first annual Pilates in Central Park Breast Cancer Awareness
and Fundraising event.
Organizers expect a turnout of about 200 individuals who will all receive a 45 minute Pilates lesson from a trained instructor.
"Pilates is for men and women of all ages. You do not need any experience, as this is a workout that focuses on your mind, body, and spirit, all while benefiting research to save lives," said event organizer Kelly Lohman.
Lohman has a personal history with breast cancer. Her grandmother beat the disease and she wants to honor her and others who have battled the illness.
All proceeds raised from the event will benefit The Breast Cancer Research Foundation. The first 100 guests will also receive a swag bag filled with pink goodies that have been donated by local vendors.
The Breast Cancer Research Foundation's mission is to find a cure for the disease in our lifetime through funding cutting edge research and treatment techniques.
