Pink is in for Fashion week
Aug 3, 2011
The second annual Nine West Runway Relief Program is set to appear in the upcoming New York City Spring/Summer Fashion week to raise funds for Fashion Targets Breast Cancer (FTBC). The goal of the fundraiser is to continue to spread breast cancer health news by way of using fashions from some of the top designers and models around.
This year's show will feature Chrissy Teigen, who will be wearing a limited edition pair of Nine West boots that are fitted with a Fitbit Wireless Activity Tracker, which is a pedometer that will track every step the model takes during Fashion Week. Nine West will then donate $1 for every mile the Runway Relief model walks to FTBC, along with its other monetary donation.
"We are confident that the fashion community will join us once again in giving back, and supporting this powerful movement," Stacy Lastrina, the creator of the program, comma said in a press release.
As the fashion industry relies largely on women involvement to stay afloat, its no wonder it has taken serious steps to help combat breast cancer, as the disease is projected to affect one in eight U.S. women in their lifetimes.
