Project Runway alum part of breast cancer event

Korto Momolu, a contestant from the fifth season of Project Runway, will showcase her latest fashion collection in an effort to raise money for the Susan G Komen Foundation, KYW1060 reports.

The fashion fundraiser is being held in Philadelphia and is supporting the Komen Three Day Walk for the Cure.

Momolu has been personally touched by breast cancer, as both her mother-in-law and sister-in-law have been diagnosed with the disease. She believes that women need support and encouragement when going through treatment.

"You have to kind of fight it, combat it with not just the medicine that they give you but also self-esteem and encouragement. And I think by showing women that fashion is great - hair or no hair - you can rock it!" Momolu told the news provider.

The Susan G Komen 3-Day for the Cure event is a 60 mile journey which raises money to continue the battle against breast cancer.

The foundation has raised over $1.5 billion which has gone toward breast cancer research and support for patients and survivors.ADNFCR-2795-ID-19831211-ADNFCR
