Real Men Wear Pink campaign adds online messaging component
Oct 11, 2011
FARO Technologies, which produces portable measurement and imaging solutions, recently announced the launch of their Real Men Wear Pink campaign. This campaign includes an online messaging board in which people are able to add their name and a short story about breast cancer and how it has affected their lives. The company will donate $5 to aid in the fight against the disease for each of the messages on the site.
"Everybody knows someone who has been diagnosed-with or impacted-by breast cancer, and we as manufacturers are no different," said Kimberly Roman, FARO's director of marketing. "Our goal for this campaign is obviously to generate donations for an important cause. We also want to show that even the manufacturing industry, with its hardened and tough image, has a soft spot to help cure those affected by this terrible disease."
According to the American Cancer Society, one in eight women in the U.S. will be diagnosed with breast cancer at some point during their lifetime. It is the second most common cancer among women following skin cancer.
