The Bowl for a Cure fundraiser at Paramount Lanes in Horseheads, New York, is in its ninth year. The benefit supports Susan G. Komen for the Cure and has raised over $25,000 for breast cancer charities since its inception, according to The-Leader.com
Three-quarters of the proceeds from the event will go to the local chapter of the national charity, Twin Tiers Komen for the Cure. Their mission mirrors that of the national organization but also goes the extra mile by offering free breast cancer screenings and will assist patients with treatment if they are underprivileged or uninsured.
The bowling event carries an entry fee of $12 which includes bowling shoes and the games. Specific frames will also feature pink pins and bowlers can win prizes if they knock the special pins down during their throw. Participants and their families are encouraged to collect pledges for the event to do as much as they can to fight the disease.
Susan G. Komen for the Cure is the largest breast cancer organization in the world. They have donated over $1.5 billion for breast cancer since 1982, according to their website.
