A local salon in Point Pleasant, New Jersey, is doing their part to honor National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, according to the Asbury Park Press.
Salon du Monde will host the second annual Breast Fest on October 11. The event costs $55, and includes a blow dry, martini, TiGi make-up launch party plus dinner and a comedy show. All of the proceeds will go to the Cancer Concern Center, according to the media outlet.
"Everything we do at the Cancer Concern Center revolves around the women and men who have the courage to walk through our front door. We don't charge any mandatory fees. We add programs, as our budget allows, to serve local residents who are struggling with cancer and the economy at the same time," Lisa Montalbano, the center's volunteer manager, told the news source.
According to the American Cancer Society, one in eight women in the U.S. will eventually be diagnosed with breast cancer at some point during their lifetime. It is the second most common form of cancer among women, following only skin cancer.
