Home for Life® gives rescued special-needs animals a second chance at life and a permanent home. Now some of those rescued animals who found hope at Home for Life are giving back by helping patients at local hospitals.
Certified for pet therapy, these rescued dogs visit cancer patients, the mentally ill, injured soldiers, and residents of nursing homes and hospices.
The The Sit*Stay*Heal program began at the Fairview University Hospitals as a way to comfort children undergoing treatment for cancer. Since then these therapy pets have expanded their rounds to include adult patients at Fairview University Hospital, the terminally ill in the hospice programs of Aseracare, and the wounded veterans treated at VA Hospital Polytrauma Unit in Minneapolis.
