Summer gala honors breast cancer survivors

More than 300 people attended the Cirque de Survivor event recently held at the Eldorado Resort Hotel and Casino in Shreveport, Louisiana, The Shreveport Times reports.

The inspiring affair was hosted by the Northwest Louisiana Affiliate of Susan G Komen for the Cure and the Eldorado Hotel. Attendees were treated to lunch, a fashion show featuring clothes from local boutique Knox Goodman's and modeled by breast cancer survivors, and uplifting stories from those who have overcome the disease.

"The purpose of this event is to help eradicate breast cancer," Komen Northwest Louisiana board chair Zella Taggart told the news source.

The event also honored cancer specialist Dr Kevin Marler with an "Impact of One" award for all of the work he has done for his cancer patients.

Susan G Komen for the Cure is one of the largest breast cancer nonprofits which provides support for survivors and dedicates itself to finding a cure for the disease. Nearly $1.5 billion has been raised by the organization since it was founded in 1982.ADNFCR-2795-ID-19923435-ADNFCR
