Planning a wedding can be difficult, as there seems to be millions of decisions to be made and money constantly being spent - so why not splurge on a wedding dress where the money will go to support a cause? Wedding gowns that are donated by designers, retailers and individuals will be on sale to raise money for positive breast cancer breakthrough news, according to the Denver Post.
The proceeds will go to the Making Memories Breast Cancer Foundation, which grants the wishes of individuals who are suffering from stage four breast cancer, including creating their dream wedding. If a person is already married but is still looking to donate to this cause, they are able to donate their wedding gown to the foundation - as long as it is less than six years old and it has be shipped to where they are based in Oregon, the media outlet reports.
According to the Susan G. Komen organization, one in eight women in the U.S. will eventually be diagnosed with breast cancer during their lifetime. It is recommended that women get a yearly mammogram starting at 40 years old.
