Woman with breast cancer gives birth to healthy baby girl

When Rebecca and Larry Byrne found out they were going to have a baby, it's safe to say they were over the moon. The Framingham, Massachusetts couple was trying to conceive for more than four years, and with the help of in-vitro fertilization, they were finally expecting, Metro West Daily News reports.

However, after only 13 weeks of pregnancy, the pair received devastating news - Rebecca had breast cancer. Although she was advised to abort the baby in order to receive proper treatment, she refused.

Months later, Rebecca and Larry are parents to a beautiful daughter, Emelia Giovannina Byrne. Rebecca has chronicled her adventures with breast cancer and pregnancy on her blog, Boobies and Babies, and is now undergoing aggressive chemotherapy.

"So far I'm doing good with it," she wrote on her site. Byrne is also determined to be cancer-free as soon as possible so she can enjoy every minute with her daughter, she said on her website.

Experts believe the rates of breast cancer during pregnancy may rise, as women are increasingly conceiving later in life.ADNFCR-2795-ID-19934024-ADNFCR
