Lemonade stands are a dime a dozen during the scorching days of summer, but there's something particularly special about Anthony Frederick's, an 11-year-old boy from South Carolina.
Frederick has been selling the refreshing beverage to passers-by for three years now, ever since his mother, Dru, was diagnosed with breast cancer, according to WLTX News
"I'm doing it because I'm raising money for breast cancer because my mom is a breast cancer survivor," he told the news source.
So far the little lemonade stand that could has raised $1000 for breast cancer research. And, although Anthony's mother is currently cancer free, the enthusiastic kid says he will continue his business venture.
"Probably until I go to college, and then I'm going to let my sister take over," he told the news source.
Anthony's mother isn't alone in her fight against breast cancer. According to the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control, in 2002 there were 3,100 reported cases of the disease in the state, the last year statistics were made available.
