For the second consecutive year, Zumba instructors in Sidney, Michigan, are teaming up to raise heart rates and money to support breast cancer research, The Chillicothe Times Bulletin reports.
The Party In Pink Zumbathon costs $10, which will go toward the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation and will qualify participants to be eligible to win a number of fun prizes during the event. Aside from getting an intense workout, those in attendance will also gain important information about mammograms and will even hear from breast cancer survivors who will speak about their experiences dealing with the disease.
Zumba instructor Nora Ryan is also a nurse and said she sees numerous cancer cases on a regular basis and finds that any kind of help, support or awareness can be beneficial to the patient and their worried loved ones.
"I think that’s the big thing: spreading awareness," Ryan told the publication.
With Cancer.org reporting that nearly 200,000 Americans are set to develop the disease this year, raising breast cancer awareness
and support is key to showing those fighting that they're not alone.
